(Read Legal Challenge Here)
I take my oath of office to uphold the Constitution very seriously and as a sitting Nevada State Assemblywoman I am still under that oath. I have often been the only "no" vote when a proposed bill was unconstitutional. I went all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court at my own expense to defend the 2/3 majority vote requirement for tax and spending increases.
My attorney has told me by challenging the errors in the primary election and demanding a new election to re-enfranchise voters, we can be assured of accountable, responsible, honest elections in Nevada. I consider defending the right to vote to be a higher calling than running for office. If we do not have honest elections, there is no point in running for office. There is a small window of hope for correcting the situation. There must be a way to guarantee every Nevadan gets to vote and that their vote counts no matter the outcome of the election. The framers of the Constitution pledged their lives, fortunes and their sacred honor for freedom and the right to free, honest elections. We owe nothing less to the soldiers fighting for Democracy and free elections, my children, and my grandchildren.

The Judge has scheduled our hearing for 9am Friday September 1. He will take testimony all weekend if necessary. If you would like to testify or know of anyone who would like
to testify, they should e-mail that testimony to me so that I can refer it to the attorney and get the testimony scheduled. I appreciate your support and help.

Angle Will File Election Challenge Tuesday
Primary Election errors caused voter disenfranchisement
Reno, NV - Angle (R- Reno) will appear this Tuesday August 29 10:30am at the Washoe County District Court where attorneys plan to file a challenge to the August 15 primary election. Angle says the case is going to court because of errors in the voting process.
Angle, a Reno assemblywoman who ran for the 2nd congressional district two seat, had the option of seeking a recount to an election that ended in a razor-thin margin. However, Angle noted that such a process would not address the unknown number of voters who did not get to cast a ballot on Election Day. Washoe Registrar of Voters Dan Burke reported a number of problems on Election Day, with some voting precincts not opening on time for several reasons.
"We want to right the wrongs and remove the cloud that is hanging over this election. We want to give all disenfranchised voters an opportunity to exercise their right to vote," said Angle.
On Friday, Mrs. Angle asked Secretary of State Dean Heller, who serves as Nevada’s chief elections officer, to join her and other disenfranchised voters in petitioning the court for a fair and accurate election that will rectify voter disenfranchisement that occurred due to election errors. Angle noted that on May 2 2005, Elections Officer Dean Heller petitioned the Senate Finance Committee to spend millions of taxpayer dollars for new voting equipment where Heller testified to the committee, "I would not want to put a price on fiscal responsibility when it comes to democracy." Angle pointed out that spending taxpayer money on new equipment while failing to enforce the election process was a travesty.
Joining Mrs. Angle in her support for a new and honest election was Paul Adams, Chairman of the Nevada Republican Party. Adams told GOP party leaders "When elections are run in a way that people who want to vote cannot, there is a fundamental problem with the integrity of the entire election process." Adams also wrote "Sharron is in a position to expose and fix those problems, restoring the integrity that is critical to the election process. This will ultimately benefit all voters in all races and is something we should all be prepared to support, regardless of our choice of candidate in the election."

Angle Announces Primary Election Challenge
Errors in the Nevada Primary Election caused Voter Disenfranchisement
Reno, NV - Assemblywoman Sharron Angle, an anti-tax Legislator running for Congress,
announced that she will not request a recount but will instead challenge the
election based on errors in the voting process. Of the nearly 70,000 votes cast
August 15 on the Nevada Primary Election for the Congressional district two seat,
only 428 votes separated Mrs. Angle from her opponent who was declared the unofficial
winner of the election - a .06% margin.
Mrs. Angle's challenge is based upon Dan Burke's report of several errors that
occurred in the Congressional 2 election. Dan Burke is the Washoe County Registrar
of Voters. Burke was unable to quantify the number of disenfranchised voters.
The number could be more than the .06% margin in the election but there is
no way this could be measured.
The accumulation of errors has clouded the out come of the election to the point
that the true winner is unknown. Although the election is being investigated
throughout the District, the errors were mainly concentrated in voter-rich Washoe
County, the largest population center in the district. Washoe County was easily
carried by Assemblywoman Sharron Angle, a popular Nevada State Legislator elected
to four terms from the area.
“Since August 16, the day after the primary, calls have been coming into my office
requesting some action,” Angle said. “It is important that the Republican voters
of Congressional District 2 feel confident that the candidate selected to represent
the Republican Party for Congress is the candidate selected by the Republican
voters. In this situation, the voters do not know who would have received the
majority of votes if errors did not occur. Out of respect for the will of
the people and their right to vote, I am obligated to contest the outcome of
this election and request a special election.”
In accordance with NRS 293.413, a statement of contest shall be filed with the
clerk of the district court no later than 14 days after the election. Nevada
law allows an election to be annulled or set aside for errors. Mrs. Angle said
that Joel Hansen, leading election law attorney in Nevada, will be filing the
challenge by the August 29 deadline. Mrs. Angle hopes that the chief elections
officer, Secretary of State Dean Heller, will join her and hundreds of District
2 citizens in petitioning the court for a fair and accurate election that will
rectify voter disenfranchisements that occurred due to election errors.
“This is not about winning or losing, this is about doing what is right,” said
Angle. “Our sons and daughters are making great sacrifices for free elections
in Iraq. We must do no less than protect that same right for Nevada citizens.”
