Text Box: Sharron Angle Closes Year with National Conservative Movement Strongly Backing her Campaign for Congress

Reno – As 2005 comes to a close and the election year is now upon us, Assemblywoman Sharron Angle’s congressional campaign is pleased with the tremendous degree of unity and early support she has received from the national conservative movement.
Recently profiled in Human Events magazine (December 12, 2005), the campaign for the Republican nomination in Nevada’s 2nd District is fast gaining national attention among conservatives.
When his organization recently endorsed Sharron Angle, long-time national conservative leader Paul Weyrich said, "Her legislative experience and her commitment to conservative principles will both help her to have an immediate impact in Congress. She would be a strong and effective representative in Washington for her constituents, just as she has been in Reno."
Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave (R-CO), the lead sponsor of the Federal Marriage Amendment in the House, said, "Sharron Angle has proven time and again that she will steadfastly fight for lower taxes and defend traditional values – Congress needs more people like her. I’m pleased to endorse Sharron’s candidacy and eagerly look forward to serving with her in Congress."
America’s leading fiscal conservative organization, the Club for Growth, also backs Angle. Its president, former Congressman Pat Toomey, has said, "Sharron Angle has a stellar record of opposing higher taxes in the Legislature, in the courts, and on the ballot. Nevada’s 2nd District deserves a principled and effective leader to represent them like Sharron Angle."
Sharron Angle has also been endorsed by the following leading national and state conservative organizations: Concerned Women PAC; National Conservative Campaign Fund; Nevada Concerned Citizens; Nevada Independent Conservatives; and the Sixty Votes Coalition. In addition she has received the "Guardian of Seniors' Rights" Award by 60 Plus, a leading senior advocacy group.
Responding to this outpouring of support, Sharron Angle commented, "Sometimes the conservative fights I’ve taken on are not popular with the lobbyists and the political insiders, but I’ve always known that they were right for the taxpayers and families of Nevada. That’s why I’m so grateful to receive such strong support from conservatives in the state and around the nation. I greatly look forward to next year’s campaign and to bringing Nevada conservative principles to Washington."
