In the National Taxpayers Union’s newsletter, "Capital Ideas," their January/February issue, they had an article titled "Activists Ring in New Year Loud and Clear" under the heading "Tax Revolt 2006."  The article gave a summary of anti-tax activity across the country, and they had this to say for Nevada:
"Assemblywoman Sharron Angle's (R) barnstorming tour of the state on behalf of We The People-Nevada's Property Tax Restraint Initiative has taken off - with two passengers.  This month Angle has visited cities such as Elko, Ely, Pahrump, and Las Vegas to gather voter signatures and support for a citizen-driven ballot measure that would limit the rate of tax (to 1 percent) assessed on property, as well as the rate of growth (to 2 percent annually) on assessed values.  But Angle is touting two other proposals as well:
The Tax and Spending Control (TASC) plan to require refunds to taxpayers of annual state revenues that exceed inflation and population growth; and,
An eminent-domain limitation initiative similar to California's Property Owners Protection Act.
Enactment of these three measures in November, which are under deadline for petition completion by the summer, would make Nevada's taxpayer protections among the best in the nation."
