Today, Assemblywoman and second district
congressional candidate Sharron Angle began
airing her campaign’s first two television
ads. Coming more than four months before the
August 15th primary election,
Angle’s ads are the first from any candidate
for Congress in Nevada this year.
Sharron Angle commented, "After nearly a
full year of campaigning all across Nevada
and meeting directly with hundreds of
citizens one and one and in small groups,
its exciting to now be able to bring our
conservative message directly into the homes
of hundreds of thousands of Nevadans. The
voters of the second district deserve to
know where each candidate stands on the key
issues, and these ads will help demonstrate
my record and my positions."
One ad, entitled "Taxes," highlights
Angle’s outstanding record of opposing tax
increases, and notes that the
Review-Journal has called her "One of
Nevada’s Most Conservative Legislators," and
the Las Vegas Sun has called her
"Staunchly Anti-Tax." The ad mentions
Angle’s leadership in opposing the largest
tax hike in Nevada history in 2003, her
opposition to outrageous property taxes, and
her having voted more than sixty times
against tax and fee hikes in the
Legislature.
A second ad, entitled "Security," focuses
on Angle’s positions on the war on terrorism
and border security. The ad notes her
opposition to amnesty efforts and to
taxpayer-paid benefits to illegal
immigrants, as well as her efforts to
require real identification for voting.
Sharron Angle concluded, "With tax day
fast approaching, and with Congress
currently debating immigration reform, it’s
a great time to clearly lay out where I
stand on these critical issues. I look
forward to continuing to bring my
consistently conservative message directly
to Nevadans in the weeks and months ahead."
The ads will run on Reno broadcast
television stations and cable TV systems
throughout the district for an indefinite
period of time.
