Sharron Angle To Announce 5-point Plan for National Fiscal Responsibility

Reveals that "Tax Freedom Day" is taking longer each year to commemorate

Reno, NV - Sharron Angle, a congressional candidate for District 2, will choose "Tax Freedom Day" to announce her 5-point Plan for National Fiscal Responsibility. Mrs. Angle publicized that Nevadans would observe Tax Freedom Day this Wednesday April 26, and noted that some taxpayers view this day of becoming burden-free as a cause for "celebration." But Angle, an anti-tax advocate, remarked that the day to rejoice becomes later and later each year. "Tax freedom comes three days later this year than it did last year. 100 years ago, the tax burden on the percentage of your income was around 5%. Today, it’s over 30% of your income. Because the average American works 116 days this year for the government, your tax onus is a larger financial burden than the combined total you will pay this year to eat, maintain your health and medical care, and sustain your transportation costs."

"As your voice in Congress, I will work with other conservative Congressmen to create a national climate of fiscal responsibility, with lower taxes and less Washington spending and regulations," Angle pledged. "In Nevada, I have consistently fought legislation that increases tax burdens on families, businesses, and seniors. I was one of 15 legislators that fought the 2003 tax increase, and I lead the fight in the U.S. Supreme Court to protect our 2/3-majority requirement to raise taxes and fees. We can do more. In Congress, I will join my vote with other conservatives to repeal taxes and regulations and cut wasteful government spending. Tax changes have a huge impact on business and individual incentives – how and where to invest, how much to work and save, and when to seek tax shelters from confiscatory tax rates. Washington desperately needs a fighter for taxpayers, and I have the proven courage to make the tough votes for true tax and spending restraint."

Angle will hold a press conference to release details of her 5-point plan for national fiscal responsibility this Wednesday April 26 at 10:00 AM in front of the IRS office located at 200 S. Virginia Street in Reno. Angle’s proposals embrace major protections for taxpayers, including:

  • Permanent repeal of the Inheritance Tax/Death Tax, repeal of the Alternative Minimum Tax (AMT), and a permanent cap on the Capital Gains Tax at 15%
  • A repeal of burdensome regulations such as Sarbanes-Oxley
  • Simpler, fairer, more transparent reforms to the IRS/income tax system
  • Spending cuts in non-essential government programs and eliminating pork-filled "earmarking".
  • Expectations of prudent spending by essential government agencies
