Sharron Angle Reports Strong Fundraising Numbers
Congressional Candidate Raises $158,888 in Three Weeks
Reno – Today, Assemblywoman Sharron Angle, Republican candidate for Congress, filed her campaign’s first fundraising report with the Federal Election Commission. Angle reported having raised $158,888.83, and retained $157,404.21 cash in the bank.
The fundraising report covers the period from April 1, 2005 through June 30, 2005. However, Mrs. Angle did not announce her candidacy until June 8, and raised no funds prior to that date. Her $158,888 was raised in only 22 days last month. The report showed that Angle swiftly received contributions from over 1,400 donors. Over 80% of those donors contributed $100 or less.
Angle responded to her early fundraising success saying, “I am honored by this strong outpouring of support. My message to Nevadans has always been that government taxes and spends too much. That is just as true in Washington as it is in Carson City. I look forward to delivering that message throughout the Second District in the days and weeks ahead. This early support is very encouraging.”
Angle, a Reno Republican, is now in her fourth term in the state legislature. She is known for her tough conservative stands against tax and fee increases of all kinds, and especially for her leadership in restraining property taxes. Mrs. Angle led the fight against the 2003 state tax increase and has been an outspoken defender of the state’s constitutional two-thirds majority vote requirement for tax increases.
