ANGLE DISCUSSES TAXATION, IMMIGRATION ISSUES
Assemblywoman Sharron Angle (R) Reno, Congressional Candidate for District 2, spent the weekend discussing the important issues of taxation and immigration. The Mt Rose Republican Women hosted an event on Saturday and KPTL in Carson City conducted a live interview Sunday with Mrs. Angle on these same issues.
Taxation was a heated topic among the many citizens Angle spoke with this weekend. Angle discussed her plans to reduce the Federal Gas tax, eliminate the Death Tax, and reign in Government spending. "The taxpayers are appalled that they are taxed to death, then they are taxed again when they die. It is unconscionable that we are taxed fifty-two cents on every gallon of gasoline and much of that goes to pay for pork rather than give families relief at the gas pump." Angle addressed her conservative legislative leadership during her four terms of office. She sponsored such bills as property tax restraint (a Nevada-style Prop 13), a reduction of the state gasoline tax, and a Taxpayer Bill of Rights that will cap taxes and restrain government spending at the state level. "I want to take this same message of lower taxes and less government to Congress."
"Immigration reform is on everybody’s mind. They are frustrated by government that seems to turn a blind eye." Mrs. Angle cited simple legislation she introduced requiring voters to provide identification when casting votes. Advocacy groups selected to serve on the Secretary of State’s Help America Vote Act advisory committee protested her bill during a public legislative committee hearing. "If I write a check or rent a DVD, I have to show picture ID to prove who I am. This lack in policy in the electoral process erodes public trust in our most basic Constitutional right to vote as citizens. When non-citizens can fraudulently cast votes, the honest voter becomes disenfranchised. As Nevada’s Congresswoman, I would not be afraid to work with the other conservative members concerning real immigration reform."
