By Sharron Angle
My new documentary, Not On My Watch, exposes the denial of the “establishment” and media concerning the facts about the manipulating or defrauding of voters as an American tradition. Voters are a fragile group, at best. The accepted statistic is that fifty percent of those who are eligible to vote actually register. Of those who register, only fifty percent will cast a ballot. In other words, only about twenty-five percent of eligible voters actually vote. This is largely because voters are cynical about the value of their vote and they are disenchanted with the integrity of those running for election. When would-be voters are aware of deliberate voting fraud that robs them of their vote, they throw up their hands in disgust and refuse to participate. This only strengthens the percentage of fraudulent participation in most elections which is accepted as three percent of the vote but in some areas it is over ten percent.
In 2006, I went to court to defend Nevadans’ right to vote. The voting machines calculate votes accurately to ninety-eight percent. Any candidate who loses or wins a race by less than a two percent margin is in a statistical tie. There is no way to prove the accuracy of the vote. Even though Nevada has a printed, paper ballot in the machine, it is merely a voter audit and not the official ballot. In the 2006 Congressional primary, I lost the election by 421 votes. This was half a percent of the votes cast.
The polling place irregularities reported in the newspapers scandalized the electorate. I received dozens of phone calls with complaints from people who were turned away at polls that did not open on time, who were denied their right to vote because machines were not ready, or who had experienced machinery malfunctions while they were voting such changing their vote from me to my opponent.
I challenged the election in court for three reasons:
1) To make the paper ballot the official ballot;
2) To demand a new ballot in Washoe County (Reno, NV is the county seat) for the irregular voting process that included polls not opening until 10 a.m. instead of 7 a.m.;
3) Because people were refused the right to vote when
a) voting machines were not operational, b) paper ballots jammed in the voting machines, and c) paper ballots did not print and these voters were uncertain whether their vote was recorded. In one instance, a polling place was moved the night before voting, perhaps by a janitor, but not by an official from the Registrar’s Office.
In court, the registrar admitted he could not verify that even the judge’s vote registered in the machine or was counted in the election! The judge dismissed the case, asserting that he had no jurisdiction, and I had no money for an appeal in a higher court.
“In Nevada’s 2010 U.S. Senate general election between Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and me, several factual irregularities occurred, as covered by a blogger:
“First, there is the fact that Sharron Angle was ahead – and gaining steam – in all major polls before the election, and that comparable polling data accurately predicted race outcomes in analogous races.(i) Paul Joseph Watson of Prison Planet further explains, at Dark Politricks:
“Four separate Rasmussen polls prior to the election had Angle ahead. Two weeks before Super Tuesday, she held a fifty percent to forty-seven percent lead over Reid. One week prior to voting, on October 26, her lead was extended to four points, with Angle at forty-nine percent and Reid at forty-five percent.
“To have a nine point swing, from Angle enjoying a four point lead just a week before the election, to Reid winning the seat by a clear five points, is highly suspicious…Nine points is not within the margin of error for polls, especially those conducted by Rasmussen, which is considered to be one of if not the most credible polling agency.(ii) Then there were reports (iii) of voting machines that were automatically checking Harry Reid’s name, the same voting machines that were serviced by pro-Harry Reid, pro-Democrat Service Employees International Union (iv) members. These voting machines have received undeserved (or deserved, depending on one’s perspective) support from Harry Reid, (v) even though they are the same “100 percent unverifiable, error-prone, hackable, illegally-certified, electronic voting systems the state forces all voters to use at the polling place.” The voting machine issues were observed in Clark County,(vi) “where three quarters of Nevada’s residents live, and where Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s son Rory is a county commissioner.(The County Commissioners certify elections and employ the registrar of voters.) Then, as reported in The Washington Examiner (vii), there were casinos, like Harrah’s and MGM (viii) (remember this, my friends, next time you are in Nevada), who engaged in extraordinary measures to get their employees to vote, as instructed by a Harry Reid staffer: who ‘told Harrah’s it needed to “put a headlock” on its supervisors ‘to get them to follow through.’” Further, ‘This plea was distributed to senior executives throughout the company by a Harrah’s vice president, Marybel Batjer. Batjer demanded that those executives “do whatever we need to do to get the supervisors to know that there is NOTHING more important than to get employees out to vote. Waking up to a defeat of Harry Reid Nov 3rd will be devastating for our industry’s future.’”
Harrah’s did just that, getting headcounts and insisting that supervisors explain why their employees had not yet voted. They also coordinated with employee unions to get buses and shuttles to take the employees to the polls.
This was not a situation where a corporation was simply encouraging its employees to go to the polls and vote for their candidate of choice—Harrah’s was telling its employees how important it was to elect Reid, setting up a whole system to coerce its employees to vote, even recording of who had not voted. It was reported(ix) that the casino voting effort was done in conjunction with Culinary Local 226, a heavy Reid supporter that represents about 60,000 casino workers. Sharron Angle lost by 40,669 votes.(x) Finally, there is the illegal immigrant issue. From an alert(xi) issued by Americans for Legal Immigration PAC:
It is a felony for any non-citizen to vote in a US election and while the scale of involvement is unknown, it could be very substantial in some areas including North Carolina, Nevada, Colorado, and Washington State. In many of these areas, Democratic candidates campaigned and appealed to illegal aliens, and deployed illegals to bring out similar voters.
My attorney, Cleta Mitchell, filed the cased with the Department of Justice and Nevada’s Attorney General and Secretary of State. All of these officials were Democrats. We were denied standing for our case even though it was well-documented in the press. When the Republicans took all of these offices in 2014 I took my case to them. I was told that they would not take the case because they thought it had passed the statute of limitation. Even though it may not change the outcome of an election, exposing it may be a deterrent to future perpetrators and with no exposure of wrongdoing, the press and the political elite continue to claim that there is no such thing as election corruption. When anomalies continue unchallenged and unchecked, they calcify into the system and become harder to detect.
THE SOLUTION: There are ways to correct election fraud but they require grassroots citizens action. Lawsmakers have proven (because of self-interest), they cannot be depended upon to make the necessary changes or to follow-up by enforcing those changes. Here is a five-step plan to take by the integrity of our vote.
1) Clean up the voter rolls:
a) Build an Election Integrity team.
b) Educate the public. I have made a documentary that reveals the truth about election corruption, Not On My Watch.
c) Voter Roll Audit: Use team to electronically audit state voter rolls and encourage purging of lists
d) Precinct captains to maintain accurate voter registration lists and watch the polls at their precinct locations on election day.
2) Change the law: Our election laws often make our own government unwitting participants in election corruption. The following laws should be changed.
a) Decertify electronic voting machines: Demand a voter marked paper ballot that can be seen by officials in a hand count. Tallies of paper ballots may be done by machine unless there is a challenge. (In some states (Nevada is one) counties may choose to use a paper ballot instead of the electronic voting machines. This is a vote of the county commission that oversees elections and doesn’t require legislation.
b) Voter ID and proof of citizenship: Voters must produce identification before being given a ballot and citizenship must be required upon registration to vote in all elections. Demand a purple inked finger for those who have voted to discourage multiple voting.
c) No Automatic Voter Registration (AVR): AVR should not be allowed for individuals when applying for a driver’s license or state identification card. This violates the National Voter Registration Act (NVRA) by not requiring voters to provide proof of eligibility such as citizenship. This is especially troublesome in states that offer driver’s licenses to illegal aliens.
d) No same day registration: Voters Qualifications need to be verified before the vote is cast. There is no way to track and remove an illegally cast ballot.
e) No Early Voting: Early voting encourages duplicate voting at multiple voting stations often for weeks or months before election day and by-passes the local precinct where voters are often known by election officials.
f) Limited Mail-in Voting: Federal law requires all states have some form of absentee or mail-in voting. This mail-in voting should be limited to a number of valid excuses based on age, absentee status or an inability to vote on Election Day. Mail-in ballots should not be opened until after the close of the polls on election day so ineligible voters can be removed before the ballots are counted. The abuse of mail-in ballots leads to the latest Ballot Harvesting which brings carloads of “misplaced or delayed in the mail” mail-in ballots to the polls after election day.
g) Primaries should not be replaced by run-offs which allow the top two vote getters in a “primary” regardless of party affiliation to run-off in the general election. There should be no ranked-choice elimination should be used. The winner of a primary regardless of percentage should proceed to the general and the winner of the general wins the election again regardless of the percentage of the vote being less than 50%.
h) Redistricting should remain with state legislatures rather than a non-elected commission for accountability to voters.
3) Vote the Bums out: Elections have consequences.
a) Keep track of voting records at all levels. Especially follow votes on election law.
b) Provide voters with guides and hold regular precinct informational meetings.
c) Engage voters at a grassroots level by knocking doors, phone calls, social media.
4) Enforce the laws already in place: Be willing as a citizen to demand laws be followed and those laws that are broken be reported to law enforcement.
a) Understand and educate your group on election law. Each state is a little different.
b) Justice delayed is justice denied. Be vocal when laws are not being followed.
c) Maintain an active fundraising effort so you can go to court, challenge the voter lists, produce educational materials and hold forums.
5) Get Involved:
a) Be an election watcher: Citizens watching the process from start to finish with their phone cameras and recorders at the ready can not only document irregularities as they occur, they can identify the criminals for prosecution. Just their presence will also remind fraudsters that someone is watching. These efforts may take coordination inside and outside the polling place.
b) Be ready to file lawsuits and testify in court.
c) Be encouraged by the words of Winston Churchill when he visited the Harrow School on October 29, 1941, he said, “This is the lesson: Never give in. Never give in. Never, never, never, never–in nothing, great or small, large or petty—never give in, except to convictions of honor and good sense. Never yield to force. Never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy.”
